Therapeutic exercise is a general term to describe a multitude of exercises, stretching and general rehabilitation. It can include range of motion and resistance exercises such as weight training, postural correction exercises, and exercises that incorporate coordination and balance training. This is essential for the rehabilitation and education of the patient: to help the patient to maintain the results of the treatment and to keep the wellness on the body.
Therapeutic exercise seeks to accomplish the following goals:

- Release contracted muscles, tendons, and fascia
- Mobilize joints
- Improve circulation
- Improve respiratory capacity
- Improve coordination
- Reduce rigidity
- Improve balance
- Promote relaxation
